Overview
An interlibrary loan (ILL) is a transaction in which library material, or a copy of the material, is made available by one library to another upon request.
Interlibrary loans may be made to obtain materials not available in the TCC collection for Library patrons or to lend circulating materials from the Library to other institutions and libraries.
Conditions of Service
The Conditions of Service are set by the 1994 Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States and special agreement with other libraries. Reciprocal borrowing agreements are observed. Current year’s books and media items are lent at the discretion of campus librarians.
Interlibrary Borrowing
Interlibrary loan services are made available to all students, faculty, and staff at TCC. Library users may borrow materials not owned by the Library. If the Library owns the item, but it is check out by a patron, those titles may not be borrowed via ILL unless the material is deemed missing.
Library Borrower's Responsibilities
Library borrower’s responsibilities include:
User accounts will be temporarily blocked when items are overdue more than 2 weeks past due date. Blocks will be removed as soon as items are returned. The Library reserves the right to withdraw borrowing privileges when a patron does not return an interlibrary loan on time more than three (3) times during a calendar year.
Interlibrary Lending
Interlibrary lending is offered to other libraries and institutions which abide by the conditions set forth in the Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States. Materials that ordinarily circulate to library users may be sent out on interlibrary loan. Occasional exceptions are made for loans of other materials as noted in the Conditions of Service of the 1994 Interlibrary Loan Code for the United States. A borrowing library must submit an electronic request for materials.
