TCC Hotspot and Laptop Loan Program

Eligibility

TCC's Hotspot and Laptop Loan Program is designed to assist students who demonstrate a  need for a hotspot and/or laptop.

To be eligible to check out a device, students must meet the following requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled in at least six credit hours at TCC per semester for fall/spring or three credit hours for summer.
  • Have successfully completed (pass with a C or better) at least one TCC credit course within the last two years.  
  • Maintain Good Standing, academically, at TCC.

OR

  • Be a currently enrolled TCC student who currently participates in the TRiO SSS Program.

 

Supply is limited. One hotspot can be checked out per household.

Availability and Pickup

The Metro Library has a limited supply of hotspots and laptops that can be picked up in person on a first-come, first-served basis, while supplies last.

To see if there are any hotspots or laptops available for checkout, please visit the Metro Library in person or call the Metro Library Info Desk at 918-595-7172.

We no longer require online applications or pickup appointments, and there are no waiting lists or reservations available.

Eligibility will be verified at time of checkout.

Students must provide a valid photo ID.

Due to limited supply, we may not be able to provide devices to all students who need them.

Due Date / Renewal Deadline

Hotspots and laptops are due to be renewed or returned by the Monday after the semester ends.

Devices should be returned in person to staff at the Metro Library.

Devices checked out for Fall 2024 are due to be renewed or returned by Monday, December 16, 2024.

Terms

Communication

  • Contact info for the Hotspot and Laptop Loan Program is as follows:
  • All notices from library staff regarding HLLP devices are sent to the student's TCC email address.
  • The student must check their TCC email regularly and look out for updates from the Hotspot and Laptop Loan Program.
  • It is the student's responsibility to promptly notify library staff of any questions, concerns, or problems the student has regarding devices or the HLLP program.
  • Requests for accommodations, due date extensions, or other considerations are handled on a case-by-case basis and should be sent directly to the HLLP email address: hllp@tulsacc.edu

Returns

  • Devices are the property of Tulsa Community College. They must be returned to TCC Metro Campus Library at the end of the checkout period.
  • Devices are due to be renewed, or returned to the Metro Campus Library, by the Monday following the end of the current semester.
  • If the student withdraws from or drops all classes, devices must be returned to the Metro Campus Library immediately.
  • Devices cannot be dropped in the library book drop. Devices must be returned directly to a library staff person, only.
  • The student must allow 15 minutes for the return process, which will include a thorough check of the device's condition.
  • If the student fails to renew or return a device by the due date, it will be considered overdue, and replacement fees will be charged to the student's account.
  • The student must contact library staff in advance if they will not be able to renew or return devices by the due date.

Checkout and Renewal

  • Devices are available on a first-come, first-served basis, to students who meet eligibility requirements.
  • Devices are checked out one semester at a time.
  • The student may request to renew their devices and continue using them if they are enrolled for the next semester.
  • If the student wishes to renew their devices, they must fill out an online renewal request before the due date each semester.
  • Hotspot and laptop renewals are not automatic. Library staff must manually confirm the student is enrolled before the renewal request can be approved.
  • If the student fails to renew or return a device by the due date, it will be considered overdue, and penalties will be incurred.

Loss and Damage

  • The student is solely responsible for loss, theft, or damage to devices checked out to them and will be charged a replacement fee for any lost, damage, or otherwise unreturned devices.
  • It is the student's responsibility to report any device condition issues (scratches, broken bezels, or other cosmetic damage) they want to be noted at the time of checkout.
  • If a device is lost, it is the student's responsibility to notify the Metro Campus Library at 918-595-7172.
  • If a device is stolen, it is the student's responsibility to notify the Metro Campus Library at 918-595-7172 and complete a report to TCC Police immediately.

Penalties

  • The penalties for overdue devices are as follows:
    • Replacement fees will be added to the student's account by the Bursar Office.
    • If the student's balance owed reaches $300.00 or more, an enrollment hold will be placed on the student's account, which will prevent them from enrolling in classes or making schedule changes.
    • Service to the student's hotspot will be shut off.
  • Replacement fees are, but are not limited to the following:
    • Laptop - up to $635.00
    • Laptop Charging Cable - $35.00
    • Hotspot - up to $140.00
    • Hotspot Charging Cable - $15.00
  • Any and all replacement fees the student has accrued must be paid in full before the student may renew or check out another device.
  • Failure to pay replacement fees may result in a monthly interest charge of 1.5% and a late charge of $50 if not paid prior to the end of the semester. If this account is not paid in full it may be referred to the Oklahoma Tax Commission for a warrant intercept of your State Tax refund. It will also be placed with an external collection agency and you will be assessed collection costs (up to 33%), legal costs, and attorney fees. If placed with an external collection agency it will be reported to all three credit bureaus.

Device Usage

  • The student must comply with TCC's computer use policy while using devices.
  • Devices should be used primarily for academic purposes.
  • The student is responsible for supplying a bag or case for the laptop, and any necessary accessories (e.g. mouse, headphones, printer, etc.).
  • The student is responsible for downloading and installing Office 365 from MyTCC.
  • The student is responsible for backing up any important documents stored on the laptop. It is highly recommended that the student back up all files to their own external storage device or cloud storage service.
  • TCC is not responsible for any lost data, documents, or applications the student may have saved to the laptop. Upon return, the laptop hard drive will be reformatted and restored to default, meaning everything will be erased.
  • The student is not required to remove personal data from the laptop before returning, however, the student is responsible for protecting their privacy by deleting any sensitive information.
  • The student may download and install applications but cannot otherwise alter the laptop. This includes alterations to the hardware, the laptop enclosure, and the application of external skins or stickers. Alterations will be considered damage and result in replacement fees.

If you have a hotspot or laptop already checked out and you are enrolled in at least one Spring 2025 class, please use the above link to renew your devices so you may keep and continue using them during the upcoming semester.
